Amazing sourdough bagel! Loaded with toppings, super fluffy inside, perfect texture outside! Only had a traditional style with cream cheese, but will need to be back for toppings next time! :)
There’s been bagel shops popping up all over LA the past few years and I’m all here for it. The price here is pretty decent compared to *cough* another popular bagel shop in LA. The bagels here though I’m not sure if it’s as good. It’s a little bit more bready. But still, really great quality, esp with the bagel sandwiches. They have some limited outdoor seating, and you’ll have to find street parking (which wasn’t too hard to find).
The last time I had a bagel I loved I was in New York City over the summer. Nothing has compared since m. So when I went to visit my family in LA, I was surprised when my cousin said he wanted to take me to a bagel shop. I thought, “Okay…” I was skeptical. We pull up and there is a long line. It goes quick, I promise, and it is 100% worth it.
Layla’s Bagels blew my mind! There is sooo much flavor and high quality bagels. This isn’t your standard bagel either, there were no holes in them. You’ll see two prices. It’s for either a whole or half of the bagel. I did two different halves. I did the Scarlet and the Marli. The Scarlet blew me away! The Marli was good but I wouldn’t get it again. I would highly recommend using the everything bagel, holy cow was it good! The fresh orange juice was solid too. They also have Vegan cream cheese in case you have issues with dairy. This is easily the best bagel I had outside of NYC!
The line was half way around the block on a Saturday morning but it’s worth the wait. Besides my old favorite Laika on jalapeño cheese bagel, I tried a few others. All so delicious!
Visited Layla Bagels on a bustling Wednesday at 9 am – the wait was shorter than my attention span! Bagels so good, they might be mistaken for comedy gold. Laika approved! Two different halves – because choosing is hard. Coffees played their part, and the outdoor seating in California sun is basically a free tan. Five stars for bagel bliss and a side of vitamin D!
I've had this place marked to try for a while now. My wife and I sometimes go out for breakfast, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the lux bagels and the heirloom tomatoes bagel, and bought a few plain bagels to go. The bagels were all phenomenal, the best I've ever had, even though I'm not a bagel person and picky if I ever do eat them. So a definite 5 for the bagels.
However, I think they are way too heavy-handed with the cream cheese, which really overpowers everything else. I feel like the mixes are really nice, so there's no need to put out so much cream cheese, which isn't very healthy anyway. We also tried the latte, which was pretty good. The service overall was great, and the staff was very friendly.
If you're looking for great bagels, this is a definite must. The only things that stood out to me were that the salmon lux wasn't the best I've had, the heirloom tomatoes didn't seem to be really heirloom but just regular tomatoes, and the overwhelming amount of cream cheese. The reason I'm giving them a 4 is because of the overall experience, but not their bagels.

The bagel was decent, though the ingredients seemed quite basic, something one could easily make at home. However, the sauce they added really amped up the flavor.
Be ready for a potentially long wait as the line tends to be quite lengthy. Seating is extremely limited, so it's wise to have a backup plan for where to eat.
Honestly, it didn't strike me as anything particularly special, so returning soon isn't high on my list. Maybe on a relaxed Saturday when I've got more time, I'll give it another shot.
I crave the food from here. The flavors of the bagels and combination of toppings are fresh and delicious. Bagels are light and fluffy. Coffee is rich and strong. And the shops in the neighborhood are top notch like a toy store and clothing boutiques. Seating is primarily outside but there is a small counter inside.
